This 500 year-old coaching house, is steeped in history, located in the heart of Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town. The Hotel reflects the style and elegance of a bygone era. High flying Colchester United FC's Layer Road ground is approximately a 5 minute drive. A traditional hotel, tudor in design the hotel still retains many of its original features. The small lobby leads into the lounge with a small seating area with wooden floors and rugs. The 'brasserie' restaurant provides guests with the choice of an International cuisine. Light snacks or full meals are also available throughout the day in the lounge. The rooms vary in size but are mainly medium and are kept in fair condition along with the Bathrooms. Many rooms retain original oak beams and chandelier lights. All rooms are en-suite with colour TV, radio, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.
