An excellent Castle hotel, ideal instead of inverness. MT-07/05 This hotel is situated 15 miles north of inverness and 1 mile from the centre of Dingwall. The hotel is surrounded by magnificent mountains and dates back to the 12th century. Mary Queen of scots, macbeth and many other rich and famous guests have stayed in this imposing fortress. This is a historical building and its elevated position proudly guards over Dingwall. Many of the ancient Castle features still exist including the dungeons. The hotel is set in splendid grounds with excellent views of the surrounding area. The hotel lobby is large and very elegant with leather sofas and mahogany wood panelling. There is an attractive reception desk and Space for luggage. The green lady bar, oak room and the great hall are very traditional with ornate ceilings and wood panelling. There is a wide variety of dishes on offer prepared by one of the highland's top chefs. The bedrooms befit a Castle, Spacious, comfortable, full of character and all are en suite. The decor is elegant with deep coloured fabrics and dark wooden furnishings. The rooms are small and medium in size and in excellent condition.
